Most California college students had no idea that Lil Romeo, the son of famous rap mogul Master P, had been on the University of Southern California basketball team for his freshman and sophomore years of college. Lil Romeo became well known at age 12 when his father Master P signed him to his record company, No Limits Records. Lil Romeo, aka Percy Miller, later went on to play guard for the basketball team at Beverly Hills High School. While on the USC basketball team for two seasons, Miller only played in a total of nine games in two seasons, for a total of 19 minutes. During his 19 minute college basketball career he only scored five points, while also racking up three rebounds and an assist. (more…)

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010The University of Southern California football team have been a very popular subject in the news over the past couple years, and the last few months have seen a few noteworthy stories. First in January USC lost their head football coach, Pete Carroll, to the Seattle Seahawks. Shortly after they picked up Lane Kiffin as the new head coach, he recruited a 13 year old for the upcoming 2015 head. Then USC football fans were ecstatic when they heard that top high school offensive lineman Seantrel Henderson officially committed to start playing with the team for the 2010 season. Now USC is making headlines once again as one of their new recruits, Dillon Baxter, is all over the news due to his stellar performance in a scrimmage game this last weekend. (more…)
Seantrel Henderson Officially Signs With USC
Wednesday, March 24th, 2010Early last month it was reported that Seantrel Henderson would go to the University of Southern California, as he announced his commitment but did not officially sign with the team. On national signing day this year, Henderson decided not to sign just yet with USC, although many other players did sign at this time. Technically the signing period for Division I football is not over until April 1, so Henderson came in just under the wire so he can play for USC this next school year. (more…)
University of Southern California Appoints C.L. Max Nikias as New President

USC is once again in the news as they name the 11th president of the university, C.L. Max Nikias. Currently Nikias is the executive vice president and provost, but he will officially become the president on August 3rd as reported by USC. Nikias is going to succeed Steven Sample, who decided to retire last year in November. Sample has been president of the university since 1991, and he will be leaving the university in good hands with Nikias at the helm. (more…)
USC Football Recruits 13 Year Old for 2015
Friday, February 12th, 2010The University of Southern California football team has been in the news numerous times in the past month, and the buzz continues as they recruit 13 year old quarterback, David Sills for the fall 2015 season. They recently had the nation’s top high school offensive lineman Seantrel Henderson, announce his commitment for fall 2010, but also had former head coach Pete Carroll, leave for an NFL job as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. USC hopes the recent recruits will help them stay competitive for next year, and for years into the future. However, recruiting someone not even in high school for a 2015 football scholarship is a very odd tactic used by USC, which many people were upset about. Davis Sills, a middle school student from Delaware has always dreamed of moving to California to play for USC, which is his dream school. (more…)

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010Now that it is official that Pete Carroll is leaving his head coach position for the USC football team to coach the Seattle Seahawks, football fans in Seattle are mixed and students and alumni of USC wonder if it has anything to do with the ongoing investigation of the university. The running investigation at USC involves various illicit benefits that Reggie Bush accepted while attending the college from 2003-2005. It is suspected that Bush and his family received cash and gifts worth $291,000 from a marketing agent during college. (more…)
USC Helps Foreign Students Assimilate With America Culture Class
Monday, December 28th, 2009The University of Southern California has held the top spot for having the largest contingent of foreign students at a U.S university. It can be tough for this large group of students from around the world to adjust to life in the U.S. and assimilate into American culture. Many of these foreign students are often in graduate school, so they already have a stressful time with school work. Therefore, learning can be impacted if these students also have to stress about daily living in Southern California. This is why USC recently launched a class for these students entitled “The United States: An American Culture Series,” about American culture and life in Los Angeles. (more…)
