Many parts of Southern California are known for having very green lawns, despite how large they are or how much they cost to maintain. A new study from researchers at the University of California-Irvine found that the emissions generated by lawn maintenance are too much for the grass lawns to off set by absorbing the carbon dioxide. Keeping the lawns looking green, clean, and healthy takes a lot of time and effort, typically involving emission producing maintenance tools. Things like mowers and leaf blowers output far more emission than a simple green lawn can combat, which is an interesting find as most people only think about how the green grass supports the environment. 8 California Colleges Make Kiplinger’s 100 Best Value List
Tuesday, January 5th, 2010Each year Kiplinger publishes their 100 Best Values in Public Colleges and this year California colleges claimed 8 spots on this list. During rough economic times it is extremely important to get an education, but it also helps to get a good value on the price you pay for your college degree. Kiplinger does extensive research to determine these rankings and many variables are examined to get the final list. In order to determine the cost for in-state students, they look at total expenses, grants, aid, and debt prior to their graduation. They also look at the information for out-of-state residents and perform the same analysis to get a separate ranking. (more…)
