Early last month it was reported that Seantrel Henderson would go to the University of Southern California, as he announced his commitment but did not officially sign with the team. On national signing day this year, Henderson decided not to sign just yet with USC, although many other players did sign at this time. Technically the signing period for Division I football is not over until April 1, so Henderson came in just under the wire so he can play for USC this next school year. However he did sign a letter of intent, which stated that he and his family were waiting to see how the meeting would go with USC and the NCAA regarding the ongoing investigation of the athletic department. Although final penalties of the infractions by USC are not known yet, but should come out sometime in April.
Henderson is considered by most to be the top high school recruit in the nation, as he is an outstanding offensive lineman that is destined to go to the NFL if he continues to perform well at USC. In addition to Henderson, USC also has recruited an amazing class for 2010 along with new head coach Lane Kiffin. ESPN Recruiting currently has the class ranked in the top 10, and Henderson is definitely a big part of this team. USC has a couple wide receivers and a tight end, which are all rated very well as they plan to move up to Division I football. Hopefully USC can stay out of trouble with the NCAA moving forward and just push to stay atop the Division I football rankings in 2010 and beyond.
